The house rules don't need discussion...

11. The site must not be used to solicit business of any kind – this includes any information in signatures and biographies, and specifically prohibits trade users from linking within forum posts or their signature to their websites, special offers, etc..

Neither shall trade members use the forums to encourage members to contact them for special offers or advantageous pricing. Whathifi.com offers a range of advertising opportunities that can be used to promote relevant products and services - click on Contact Us for more information.

12. Trade members, dealers, manufacturers and their PRs must not use the forums to blatantly 'promote' products they sell or distribute.

Oops sorry, but OP did say...

Okay, yes I suppose a member with only one blank post holds more sway - regarding what trade members can post or link to - than the website administrators.

If a company like Acoustic Energy can play a valued and useful role on this forum, and stay within the rules, then I don't get why you can't.

JonAlacrityA. Whilst you as a manufacturer are very welcome, I do feel that your posts and signature are in breach of house rules about blatant self-promotion, which many other vendors and manufacturers manage to avoid. Can you first amend your signature to remove the website link please. I'll take a view on whether I can be bothered to Mod the rest after I've had my tea...

JD

LOL

Sorry all, quite new to this. OK, link off.

Sorry sir... I will try to conform in future while waiting for someone to print my review...

Hi BigH

The tweeters are Visaton and the woofers are a 8 Ohm, 6.5", 850gm Magnet, PP cone. What makes them special is the Acoustic Induction bass loading system we've developed.

Thanks Jon, but all due respect they (Vistaton) do you look that special for a £2,000 speaker?

Looks are for the visual side. Don't look at the speakers. Nothing to see here. Move your eyes back to the screen. Let the sound deal with your EARS.

I can honestly say: "Buy ours, because they are the best. Check us out!!!", cuz that's the advice they asked for. Oh, and at the size and price-point, it's true!

Theres some stiff competition out there - that's a bold claim! 🙂

Totally stand-by it.

Ready for a 170mm bake-off whenever you are, dude!

A supermarket just stacks its products and makes a killing, and if its not making enough it'll screw suppliers until it does. When the economy is totally screwed and we're all skint, we still have to buy food.

And when you do, you still get totally horsed.

Sorry...!

We're a company that publishes it's test results.

This one is for our 'typical' 2-way speaker, the Caterthuns.

Hello and welcome to the forum Jon. 🙂

I have a question about your speakers. How exactly are you making those measurements? Please forgive me if I'm missing something here but that graph doesn't seem to make any sense.

The graph seems to indicate that there's no bass roll off at low frequencies even down as low as 16Hz. I'm pretty sure that's impossible for a small two-way speaker with a 6.5" woofer to produce that much bass at such a low frequency. :?

Hi Steve

Thanks for your welcome.

I'm not sure how much I should discuss this now after threats from other members.

Can we conclude this more privately?

I got ill, had a kid, had to do a job, but back with a vengeance... We're gonna help get-it-back for the UK Hi-Fi Industry, the best and most innovative in the world. Good-bye all those IAG brands, now China Inc. The Great British man-in-his-shed will beat all your best computer models. Support them now, move from bling to innovation, but remember we're all carrying Thatcher's mort-gage (death-gate) legacy costs.

That's why margins are as they are.

I don't think that you have anything to worry about regarding threats from other members. You're welcome to contact me privately if you'd prefer though.

This forum doesn't allow private messaging so maybe JD will pass on my email address to you or you could send me a PM on the AVI forum which does allow private messaging.

SOrry Jon, I think you misunderstood my question about the tweeters I was expecting something a bit more expensive than those tweeters in your speakers.

It's just I don't want to break rules/seem overly advertising my tat; but there is a legitimate need for discussion of this topic. Can we open a new thread in a more suitable section?
