I have the following equipment at home and I need to decide what to keep. I think that I have my mind set already for some of the components but, I would still be very interested to hear other opinions/thoughts. What would be in your opinion the best combination for a 5.1 setting?

Receiver - Onkyo 701E

Receiver - Arcam AVR280

DVD/blueray - PS3

DVD - Onkyo 535

Fronts - B&W 685

Fronts - Wharfedale 9.1.

Center - Wharfedale 9CS

Surround - Wharfedale 9SR

Depending on the final combination I may also consider the possibility to add a subwoofer in the future.

Many thanks, Pablo.

If you decide to go with the B&W's then I think you should go all out with B&W's. By that I mean get B&W fronts, center and surrounds.

I would stick to one series of speakers, and if you are going for B&W go along with them the Wharfedales are much cheaper and I really love them, then opinions may vary, but the 9.1 are great speakers I wouldn't use the Diamond SR but the DFS as they are dipole and are really good for dispersion os sound.

Thanks for the comments, I have tested yesterday and I am going to keep the B&Ws because I feel that they offer a much more complete sound than the Wharfedales. Maybe in future I will also upgrade the rest of the speakers.

The greatest doubt that I have is regarding the receiver. I see advantages in both the Arcam and the Onkyo but, I do not see a clear winner. Any comments? Thoughts?

Thanks,
