Big Chris,

In that case, better sooner than later I'd say.
Show her the new blu-ray player and explain the virtues of this player over the 350 and she will soon accept it as a fine purchase.

Are you insane man? She *hasn't noticed*! If that situation carries on for a week there's a good chance she never will and then he's home and dry!

WON'T SOMEBODY THINK OF THE CHILDREN???!?!!1??!

Yup, let sleeping dogs lie.

What she doesn't know about she can't worry about.

Of course she never needs to know. The green light has always been there. It's just a new function from the latest firmware update that has turned it on. Problem solved.

The USB socket of the front might be harder to explain.

she may have noticed, but she's storing it for a rainy day.

A mate lost his wedding ring 2 years ago. He didn't tell the missus, and she hasn't officially noticed. He thinks she may have picked it up from the bedside table, and hid it. But he's not sure. It's like dealing with the Stazi.

Be careful Chris - these women are a clever lot.

Mine arrived yesterday but havent had the chance to plug it in yet

I'm lucky I am replacing an S560 which looks remarkably similar so don't think her indoors will be any the wiser !

Hope all that bought the bargain S760 at £100.00 are happy with it

Let us know as there was some debate as to the merits of buying this one over more recent players

Regards

No. It was the 370 that demoted the 760 down to 4 **** in the Supertest.

The 760 is a much better looking machine though.

Not yet Paul.

I've held off turning it on in her presence. It's behind a frosted glass door, so isn't apparent when not in use.

Sunday will be the day I think, as she tends to watch episodes of 'Supernatural' while I'm at rehearsal.

Maybe she could post a review on Sunday evening then?

Oh, that reads that obituary might be more apt than review.

Is your wife like mine in that normally she looks like butter wouldn't melt in her mouth, but if anyone crosses the line the 'light the touchpaper and stand well back'.

I still think you should have used the "cheaper to replace than repair" ploy.

You then could have shown off your buying skills in finding such a bargain. You would then become a hero in her eyes for saving so much money!

Terrify? Nah. But she's like a minefield.

Walk the path straight and narrow, no problems. Deviate one bit and BANG! ...it's raining chunks of poor ol' Big Chris.

She went 'round her Sister's instead of staying home and watching 'Supernatural', so she didn't attempt to use it.

This is a good thing. The longer she goes between uses, the more blurry her recollection of where the buttons are, what the display reads and what-have-you will be.

As long as she doesn't start read WHFS&V forums, sounds like you may have gotten away with it BC...

If you're paranoid, you could always use the remote control from the old BDP (sure it will work with the S760) and then have an "accident" with that and "get a new RC on eBay"

I decided to get one myself today, just to see what it's about.
