I haven't heard the BeoLab speakers, but you can get more for the money.

If you haven't heard them, how do you know they're not worth the money ;-)

I knew that was coming as I typed ;)

In my defence, I didn't say they were not worth the money. Getting more for the money & not being worth the money are two completely different things.

Marcus234 you are very welcome, at the end of the day 5k is alot of money and regrets are always the worst but demoing and having a think is always the best policy. All the best to whatever you decide... let us know what you do in the end.

how big is the room that you want to put them in? But yeah i would highly recommend the beolab 5's and the 9's, I would love to upgrade my speakers to them but a more realistic upgrade for me would be the beolab9's at the front as a replacement of my beolab 8000's and the beolab 3's as an upgrade to my beolab 6000's, but i am more than happy with what i have. But believe me you will not regret the ownership of B&O speakers, also pioneer amp's bare in mind use class D amplifiers in there amps which are lisenced by B&O, also i have read somewhere that Rotel power amps use B&O amplification in there products and the pioneers and rotels consistently get very highly rated reviews

my room is 4.5x3.7 its a good size room , correct me if i am wrong but the belob 5 and beo 9s are way out my price range local b&o sell the beo 5 for £14000 a pair and the 9 for £6200 , i defo keeping my amp like u said pioneer always gets high ratings the b&o i have heard where beolab 3 more in my price range at 2700 plus maybe they sub which is 1500 plus but i am still undecided what speakers i want keep going back and forth

The beolab 5's and 9's are for proper high end users, yeah i do agree they are out of this world price wise but then again you are getting out of this world performance also, the beolab3's are awesome loudspeakers my cousin has beolab 3's at the front and back with the sub, however i think for full surround sound i would look at the beolab 8000's front and maybe the 3's at the back you can pick up excellent second hand ones for alot less than retail, i would defo look at going second hand, or if you can pick up a cheap second hand beolab 9 (prob about £3500-4000 front) and 3's (1300-1600 back's) for the money you will be getting one hell of a system, one that i crave to get badly.where abouts are you based? if you are in london and you want to come to my place and experience my setup then i will be more than happy to demo them and you will have a flavour of what they will sound like in a proper home environment, which i think is the most important thing.Have you had a listen to any other speakers? if you are in 2 minds as to whether to invest in b&o or not then i would seriously have a listen to b&w speakers, to my ears they are not as crisper sounding then the b&o's but none the less they are very highly recommended speakers.but b&o's are better sounding to my ears and the fact that you can crank the vol to the max without any hint of distortion is amazing, however speakers like the b&w's you will start to get distortion once you hit 3/4 of the volume level, on the b&o's none. Another recommendation i have for you is if you can get b&o to let you have the speaker sets that you want in your own home this way you will definately know whether the speakers you are after sound right in your home environment, i know b&o do this service and they can even let you keep them for a week, this way you can really test them out.Let me know how you get on

so have you decided to keep your current pioneer? are you just looking for home cinema speakers and amp then?

i going to keep my pioneer , and my amp to so just going to spend money on speakers and a bespoke cabinets

unfortunatly no b&o speakers will work with my amp so that rules them out as there passive or active cant remember what salesman told me

i might go for wall speakers thinking fpm5 or if i can go with cm8 floorstanding speakers with pvd1 sub i think its called, still open to suggestions tho

what amp do you have? does it have preouts at the back? if you do have preouts you can connect the b&o speakers to the amp via preout, you would just need to buy a special cable from http://www.soundsheavenly.co.uk/,if you dont have preouts then you cannot connect them, b&o speakers are active which means they have there own dedicated amplifiers built into the drivers which means cleaner and crisper sound, if you are going down the passive speaker route then go for b&w speakers, this depends on what amp you have, they are brill to
