The beolab 5's and 9's are for proper high end users, yeah i do agree they are out of this world price wise but then again you are getting out of this world performance also, the beolab3's are awesome loudspeakers my cousin has beolab 3's at the front and back with the sub, however i think for full surround sound i would look at the beolab 8000's front and maybe the 3's at the back you can pick up excellent second hand ones for alot less than retail, i would defo look at going second hand, or if you can pick up a cheap second hand beolab 9 (prob about £3500-4000 front) and 3's (1300-1600 back's) for the money you will be getting one hell of a system, one that i crave to get badly.where abouts are you based? if you are in london and you want to come to my place and experience my setup then i will be more than happy to demo them and you will have a flavour of what they will sound like in a proper home environment, which i think is the most important thing.Have you had a listen to any other speakers? if you are in 2 minds as to whether to invest in b&o or not then i would seriously have a listen to b&w speakers, to my ears they are not as crisper sounding then the b&o's but none the less they are very highly recommended speakers.but b&o's are better sounding to my ears and the fact that you can crank the vol to the max without any hint of distortion is amazing, however speakers like the b&w's you will start to get distortion once you hit 3/4 of the volume level, on the b&o's none. Another recommendation i have for you is if you can get b&o to let you have the speaker sets that you want in your own home this way you will definately know whether the speakers you are after sound right in your home environment, i know b&o do this service and they can even let you keep them for a week, this way you can really test them out.Let me know how you get on
