Hello !

I want to buy Bang&Olufsen speakers BL 8000, and I'm interested what you think about them ?

Does they worth asking price ?

Or if I choose to buy pre owned is it a good deal ?

But basically I want to know from technical point of view, do they produce good sound etc .... ?

Or what you think of Bang&Olufsen speakers in general

Thank you very much!

Somewhere in the garage I have a pair of these along with a BeoCenter 9300 - I've never turned it on, but they sure look good (albeit a bit on the thin side, so deep, deep bass might not be their forte!) Infact, I don't even know whether they are active or passive!

However, these days B&O's equipment sounds as good as it looks (but you do pay a premium for the brand), so I'm sure they'll be very good!

BL8000 are active speakers, and you are right they really look great !

My heart is hurting me when I know that yours staying in garage

Active. 143 watts per module (sustained maximum) and frequency response of 52hz - 20khz.

Matching sub (Beolab 2) available if that is not enough bass.

I was thinking of using them as the sides in a 7.1 setup soon, so don't worry! (It's a very cosy, warm garage too!)

The Beocenter 9300 is quite something too!

If you want me to, I'll get them out tommorrow and give them a go!

I used to work for a B&O repair agent back in the 80's.

On the whole, their (B&O) kit was quite reliable, but we always needed a manual, just to get into them to carry out repairs.

Incredibly complex designs, with a myriad screws including some cunningly concealed behind decorative strips.

Really nice kit though. Although I think performance per £ was a little down compared to other kit - but of course nothing did (does?) look like B&O!!

Tony.

Mine are from 1999 (the Mark I version) and I've just powered them up and they come on, so I'll give them a go with the classic test SACD of Dark Side of the Moon!

My, my Hughes, you are a busy boy wherever you are....

I wish I had your energy and enthusiasm, dragging speakers out of garages at nigh on 10p.m. lol!

I know - mention almost anything and he's had it, heard it, got it in the garage, designed it or owned the company that made it. Getting tedious, isn't it?
