I have a loft room which I am trying to kit our as a playstation 3/movie room (I do not really listen to music). The room is in a L shape and I will be using the bottom section to put the sofa, TV and set up the surround system in. The bottom section is about 12' x 18'.

I bought a Sony 46X3500 and need to settle on some speakers and an amp. The problem is that I have a young son so will not always be able to use the system at high volume and must of the time will be at the lower to mid end of volume. My budget allows me to purchase a combination of the following speakers and amps:

A) KEF 3005.SE (about £1,000)

B) B&W MT20 (about £975)

C) B&W MT30 (about £1,500)

D) Onkyo Tx SR805 (£800)

E) Onkyo Tx SR705 (£600).

I like the MT30 and SR805 (should this be the 705?) but am worried I may be wasting money as the MT30 sub is 500W and may be underutilised at lower volumes. The MT30 sub is meant to be excellent though.

I am confused and need help!!

I ended up choosing the 3005SE over the MT20, but didn't feel that there was an awful lot in it.

If you're considering the MT30, you might also think about just getting the speakers without the sub (£125 or £150 each, I forget) and buying a decent sub from a specialist sub manufacturer - I think you'd get more quality for your money. E.g. B K Electronics, SVS, Vel etc.

Any further advice on this would be much appreciated.
