Hi all, Just confused, any comments on these speakers? Would like to know others' view, which one is better? I know both have received good reviews, but opinions are welcome.. I mostly listen to jazz and pop.. Cheers all..

Hello,

I've owned the CM7 and the RS6 (predecessor to the RX6). I've also listened to the RX6 at length. You've picked two of my favorite speakers. In my opinion, you can't go wrong with either. They are both fantastic. The RX6 is slightly better value for money, but I do think the CM7 is a tiny bit more HiFi sounding.

Synergy with your electronics will really be the tipping point to one or the other. Not being familiar with your gear, I would pick the CM7, but it's a very close race. I will tell you that the RX line is better reviewed over all than the CM line. Also, the cabinet work and finish on the RX6 is ever better than the very nice CM7. So, there you have it, I've really been no help at all LOL. Can't help it, I just love both those speakers. They are great.

Hi, I have the B&W CM7's and a friend of mine has the RS6's (sorry, can't comment on new RX range) and we both have them as part of a home cinema system.

For music I would say the CM7s have a more detailed mid range and treble, vocals are more pronounced than the RS6s.

For movies the RS6s offer more presence and depth of sound, whereas the CM7s almost seem too potile.

RS6s probably offer better value for money as they are cheaper, but as previously mentioned, you won't be disappointed by either!

I, like Jax, tested both the rs6 (previous model to the rx6) and the CM7. I chose the CM7s. I thought they pipped the monitor audios in the midrange department. Stunning speakers, and when toed in to point one foot behind the listener you really will get the most out of them.

However, i do love the look of those new rx6's, right up my street in terms of style and finish, have not been able to hear them in the flesh, but if they are anything like the rs6's (and ive read they are better), you are in for one very tough decision.

My advice is to audition both speakers with a source similar, if not your own. Ultimately it is more important to go on what you hear as opposed to what you have 'heard.' Well thats my 10 cents, best of luck deciding.

It would be nice if what hifi could do a detailed review of the CM7 and CM9 floorstanding range. There have been frequent forum discussions on the CM7's, perhaps an official review will help those pondering the purchase of said speakers.

Hi, thanks all for your view. Yes, i really can't decide between this 2 speakers, cos' each one has its own characteristics and both performs well and good looking too. i'm planning to match the speakers with either Marantz Cd 6003 or Arcam Fmj Cd 17. But in my country, i can't demo them side by side, cos the the MAs are only held by 1 main distributor. i really like the detailed high and mids, so can you guys give me more recommendations, which one is the better synergy to my planned gear, lets say Marantz or Arcam.

I listen to music like Jack Johnson, David Foster, Diana Krall, etc.. Any other opinions..? Thanks bro..

Can I just ask what amp you'll be using?

IMO both speakers are superb but theyre also very different.

I've owned the M/A RS6's and have demo'd the M/A RX6's and the RX6's just pipped the RS6's due to their more taut bass and more detailed midrange.

However my other half had the B&W CM7's with her Cyrus set-up and they were superb; she listens to a lot of Motown to RnB to pop etc and they handled the music very well. Superb bass, brilliant midrange (better than the RS6's IMO) and very detailed treble.

However, the M/A speakers to me are just that bit more forgiving whereas the B&W CM7's wont forgive poor amplification or recordings.

The B&W's really need to be driven well to be at their best but for your taste in music (and dependant upon speaker cable and interconnects) I'd say they would be your best bet.

Jaxwired has pretty much said what I want to say. I can understand why he likes both of hose speakers - even both have their own sonic signature, overall they're fairly similar when it comes down to it. As he has said, you can't go wrong with either because of their similarities, and synergy with your amplifier might be the deciding factor - or which one the other half likes the look of most

Do bear in mind thought that both like a little room to breathe, and will give unpredictable results when placed close to a rear wall.

d_a_n, I will drive the speakers with my Av amp Marantz Sr 6003, biamped with the Speaker C channel. Currently, i'm using MA Rs1, and with Chord Crimson interconnect and Qed SA Xt sp cable. Anyway, thanks all, your views have been very helpful..
