i read one comment on this forum saying that they were dull. was that one correct?

Yeah I heard that comment, and to quite a large extent I have to agree...I prefered the 686s to be honest (better value, no difference).

the 686's at anything but high volume were really dull. v disappointing.

Hello all,
just bought some B & W 685's from Sevenoaks. Didn't really do the proper listening tests but went with the reviews which has them down as a top buy for the money. Powered by a NAD C325BEE amp, Linn Basik turntable and akito arm. NAD C321i CD player. Got to say they are great... I put them on my old non discript stands but I wasn't happy with how stable they were so they are now sat on a book case with the little stick on rubber feet. will get better stands later. If you crank up the amp they sound awesome... but lets face it we all have neighbours... :-(
