I really want to buy these for my main L & R for cinema use and stereo. In the best buy review it says the tweeters are easily damaged. How does this damage occur is it by simply playing too loud or by the type of music Hard Rock etc.. What would be the first signs of any damage and if so can it be repaired. I'd be gutted if they broke 7 days after purchase. I want these as a step up from my Wharfedale 9.1's. My maximum listening volume never seems to go above -20dB. Is this a safe limit for these speakers. I look forward to reading comments/info.

Luke, don't worry. They mean the tweeters are easily damaged by prying fingers, not by the sort of volumes you are listening at.

The 685s are very popular speakers and might suit you very well so give them a good audition. They are very different in sound to the Wharfedales so if you like the sound of your Diamonds you might want to audition some other alternatives as well such as the Focal Chorus 706v or Mordaunt-Short Mezzo 2s. Depending on your amplification Monitor Audio RS1s might also be well worth a listen.

Would be interested to hear you thoughts once you have heard the 685s.
