Does anyone have an idea when a replacement for the B&W 600 s4 will happen? Series 4 has been in since 2007. Was thinking the series 5 should be coming soon.

Very tempted by a good deal on the current 684 if/when it comes out

Nothing has been mentioned or hinted at by B&W yet. If they feel they can't improve on the current range then I doubt they'll bother at this point in time.

Thanks Dave

Might just go right ahead and go for the 684s and the matching centre. I would like it to compliment the rest of my setup, will add an amp too and connect it via preouts to my Denon 2309

Why would they feel they can't improve in this important sector? My guess is they're already working on it, possibly using trickle down technology from the PM1 for the tweeter.

For the last 4 days B&W have been counting down all thier 600 models. I reckon they will announce a new 600 series today

They certainly look the part

You can say that. The new tweeter they use is very interesting, it´s from the CM10.

I wonder if these will be out soon..........

For various reasons, the new ones should be much improved. It'll be interesting to hear them once we get them in store.

The 686 will be £349/pair.

News story being written as I type this, will be live on the site shortly. And we have a demo pair of 685s in the building! They'll be the lead First Test in the April issue of the mag, on sale March 12th.

Interesting they've gone to front ports on the 686 model. Always felt the bass was very overblown on my 686s when I had them - an issue I never found with the front-ported 685s.

Hi Matthew

Hopefully the bass of the new range will be much tighter.

All the best

efficiency is now 87 vs old 90 dB

weight is 14 Kg vs old 18 kg :?

why???

I mean with an 87dB efficiency speaker, one needs to invest in a more powerful amplifier to drive them well. I can not imagine why a company like B&W would launch a product in 2014 with such poor efficiency... :wall:
