Aviano1 vs. Mezzo1

Aside form the tweeter structure, what is the difference between these speakers? Is the Mezzo worth the additional cost?

Depends on your spending mood at the moment, buddy.

A-B'd them a couple weeks ago attached to some Cambridge kit, (shop demo 540A and 540C),.And while the Aviano was clearly great for the price, with nice detail very evident, the Mezzo's had a "thicker" quality about them. The wife, who isn't as into this stuff as I am, was quick to spot the difference. To me, that told the whole story.

I think the cost difference was somewhere in the range of $150.

Imho, the Mezzo articulates better. Images of instruments are better defined, the stage is rendered with depth, etc.

The Aviano line is great for the price, but the Mezzo is clearly better based on an A-B comparison.

I heard them with a 740A / 740C combo, btw.
