Hi all, Just came from 2 days of auditioning; and (with the limited selection) came back with the Marantz PM 7005 (due to digital interface) with KEF LS50 and REL T0 sub. Problems - I wanted the new Rotel with built in bluetooth; but at 90,000 THB it was out of my budget - the Marantz was 30,000 THB. The KEF LS50 have a rear port; don't think they will sound that good in a corner. So I think I can keep the Marantz amp; the power here is so bad it will be torn up in a few years. But I don't know what to do about the KEF; I think I need to go to the Paradigm Studio 20 with front port? Any suggestions?? The room is about 3.5 x 3.5 meters big; so corners are all I've got.

Welcome to the forum. I doubt many have heard the Paradigm unless our Canadian posters have. That's not a bad room size, the LS50's should be OK if brought in a bit away from corners.

Most speakers not good in corners. Try moving them away from corners say 2.5m apart and you sit 2.5m away positioning speakers makes a big difference. Bring them out from the wall if you can, for soundstage I found 0.6m space behind makes a huge difference compared to 0.3m space. If bass is a problem still you can put a partial bung in the ports or you can treat the room.

Hi,

I have the LS50 and one of my speakers is near a wall behind it, about 0.5m and bass is not a problem.

Both are about 0.8m from the side walls and toed in so not reflecting of the side walls.

The LS50s are supplied with both a Full and Half bung, so is worth experimenting with it.
