Has anyone got a Audio-Technica LPW50PB?
Really interested to know what some you may think a about this deck.
Its more than likely a Hanpin, but I think it has an acoustically damped platter instead of the usual less than robust cast aluminium cast platters found on most budget Hanpins.
Also what is the built in preamp like? Hopefully What Hi Fi will do a full review soon..

Hanpin super oem or other chinese oem branded by 100s of companies
$50 each if you buy a 1000
almost zero resale / trade in value , poor build , ok sound
Get a rega or project , buy some records & enjoy the years

£999 hand built in the UK complete rega system
£999 hand built in the EU complete project system with blutooth & digital

Looks very smart. However as much as I like the brio and RP1 combo, I'm already good to go.

I have no doubt that Chinese made Hanpin's are knocked out by the thousand dirt cheap and aimed at budget buyers, but recently Audio Technica have 'knocked' out some intriguing turntables.

This year What HiFi have given a favourable review to the AT-LP5X and the only things I would take issue with would be the low mass undamped platter and the relatively weedy direct drive motor.

The belt driven Audio-Technica LPW50PB is another table of interest which I believe has an acoustically damped platter and possibly a half decent in built preamp, but alas no in depth review.

I get the buy British vibe and the snobbery about perceived non audiophile decks, but it would be interesting see how the Audio-Technica LPW50PB performs.

I got a Rega RP1 in the end and its very nice. I've been torn between Rega, Pro-Ject and to lesser extent the latest Audio Technica belt drives for sometime, but I reckon I made the right choice.
