Audio cuts out intermittently on my SC-LX81

Only had my LX81 for a few weeks, but it seems to have an intermittent fault where the audio will cut out at random intervals. It only seems to be happening with my BT-vision box. The box is ok, as when connected directly to the TV it is fine. I'm connected via HDMI, so wondering if it's losing sync or something?

Anyone else experienced this? Or any ideas what might be causing this? I suppose i should take the amp back, but if it's only happening with my Vision box, I suspect Sevenoaks will say it's the fault of the Vision box (in my experience Sevenoaks customer service is rubbish once they've got your money) or just an 'incompatibility issue'.

I suspect it's a problem with the signal over the HDMI from the BTVision box losing lock with the receiver, and since the receiver works fine with other sources, I'd point the finger at the BTVision box.

Have you tried connecting the BT Vision to the receiver using an optical digital link? That may provide a more reliable audio feed to the receiver, as it's only carrying sound, not sound, vision, control signals and power.

IIRC there was a known problem with the HDMI audio output on the BTVision dropping out from time to time, but I don't know whether it was ever fixed. There was a similar problem with the optical output back in the early days, but this was fixed in a firmware upgrade some time back, so that seems your safest bet.

Thanks for the tips, Andrew. Probably is the BT vision box, but strange that it doesn't happen when connected straight to the TV. Will have a surf about and see if there's anything out there about the HDMI out of Vision.

Indeed, but I think we've more or less established it is the BTVision box signal. Could just be the TV can work on slightly less signal, given that it's only converting into stereo, and the signal drop is enough to make the amp's surround conversion unlock.

I just did. There is.
