Thanks for the info, did spot these as an option. Curious how and why a 1000va transformer is in a 70w amp? It doesn't clip at higher volume but is clipping not the limiting factor ultimately of how high an amp can go? I've also found that larger transformers are more prone to humming. Strikes me a bit as putting a 4.0L engine in a 1.0L chassis.

The big power transformer and supply is to allow the Abrahamsen to deliver massive amounts of current, probably around 100 amps peak current !

It is like having a large light alloy V8 engine in a light stiff chassis car that is tuned for maximum torque rather than large amounts of horsepower, the throttle respose is instant in any gear or at any rpm and it is extremely fast under all conditions and loads right up to it's maximum speed.

It may not do 200 mph but the accelaration up to its top speed of 130 is blistering .

While towing a caravan

It probably would not even notice the weight of the caravan being towed until it ripped the A frame out at 90 mph ! *wink*

When i looked at your system, i then went on the Electrocompaniet website, checked the power amp specs and they handle 1 ohm loads. Good hey?

I think this is because they use high end audiophile cables inside.

You can see from this angle how they twisted the audiophile wire. Truly high end. That's what makes all the difference.

Isn't it just cable from kimbler? ;-)

Looks from the different pictures that you should look for an amp with lots of electrolytes (here on of my am)

Yes indeed !

In fact they are stable into loads right down to 0.5 of an ohm . *shok*

it's with curved SCM19 monitors and their SLMT that ATC push the button and move the game on big time

and then with curved SCM40's the legendary Soft Dome mid unit comes into play and.....

and then their super HF drive units, Super Soft Dome and dedicated SLMT bass drivers come into play
