Are Tannoy Arena Highline 500 Good On-Wall Speakers?

Hi guys,

I am planning to use the Highline 500 as a 5.1 surround system with the 3 front channels placed on wall around the TV and the surrounds right behind the couch using floorstands.

The Tannoys have been getting great reviews everywhere, but since all the reviews tested them as floor-standing speakers, I was wondering how the Highline 500 would perform as on-wall speakers.

Oh, and I'll be using Chord Carnival Silverscreen speaker cables to connect these to an Arcam receiver. Is this a good match?

So if anyone has any opinion or experience with these speakers, please let me know.

Many thanks.

John

I've heard a demo of them wall-mounted, and they sounded really good, though haven't done any formal testing as such.

I think you'll be happy with them wall-mounted.

You have a choice in the configuration of Highline 500 packages you can go for. There are a stack of different combinations. You can see them if you download the brochure off Tannoy's website.

This matters because the big floor standing units cannot be wall mounted. I've checked quite exhaustively and that is definitive. So if you want to wallmount you have to use the half height speakers all round. This is a configuration that is available, just check very very carefully, because it seems as though the same thing is repeated in the brochure, but each configuration has subtle differences, such as stands or no stands, etc etc. Best of luck!
