I’ve just unexpectedly (it was a very good price!) purchased a JVC HD750 projector, it’s the first item in my new home cinema system. I’m planning on building a HTPC to stream music, download films and run Iplayer. For an AV amp initially I was thinking about the obvious choice of the Arcam AVR600 but after a quick look on eBay there are some fantastic deals on older Arcam kits – AVP700 & P1000 - £1050 or Arcam FMJ AV9 & FMJ P7 £2000. Both of these have HDMI support and offer a great saving on the AVR600. So now I’m confused as which way to go, can anyone offer any advise or an opinion?

Many thanks

Mike

They may offer HDMI, but I don't think either can decode HD audio, i.e. TrueHD and DTS-HD MA. Plus how often are you going to listen to stereo music, if not much then there are cheaper options than the HD Audio decoding AVR600, i.e. Yamaha & Sony.

Personally I do listen to stereo music and the AVR600 is the only receiver that seems to fit the bill, unfortuantely the price tag doesn't!
