Anyone have the Sony 49XE9005 or Samsung QE49Q7F ?

I've seen both of these in Currys/PC World and both looked very good. However, there are no stores in my area which can demo TVs from an off-air signal, so the performance with SD and HD sources is unknown.

I was particularly impressed with the off-axis performance of the Samsung, as there was hardly any drop off in colour or brightness even at very wide viewing angles.

Why don't you take some DVDs and blu ray discs with you and ask them to play it on the TVs you're interested?

They didn't have any Bluray players anywhere near the TVs (which anyway are all plumbed in to their demo distribution system).

I have the Sony 49XE9005 in a box in the sitting room right now, took advantage of Richer Sounds sale to pick this up for £999 (cheaper than Currys). They'd be able to demo one for you off SD and HD sources if you're close to one of their stores.
