Another Which TV Question of the Panasonics

Hi all,Yes, I know another “which TV question?”Hopefully this will give me the final decision on which one to go for.
My lounge is 10’ x 14’ approx 3 x 4 meters but will be watching across the shorter length.We will be having Sky HD installed very soon.I’ll be watching SD probably about 60/70% of the time with the rest being Sky HDAt the moment I have just a basic DVD Player, which is a Philips DVP3020, however I will be getting the Panasonic Bluray soon after though .
My ideal budget is around £700 however will stretch higher if it’s really worth it.

Ok, so it’s not really a short list..! 
To be honest though I’m tending to sway towards Panasonic, as you may have guessed.
Not too sure if it’s relevant or not, but my amp is a Yamaha RX-V795RDS
Or do I wait for the new range of Panasonics…?????

You could probably eliminate a few tv's by asking yourself a few questions, the LZD81 has freesat, depends on whether you want freesat or not, the PX80 is plasma & only HD ready & not full HD, & the LZD800 is last years top of the range with one sheet of glass appearance, only you can decide paying the extra money is worth it.

If i were you i would write down what you want & then go & have a look at the tv's, also have a look at the back of the tv, you may want optical out for example.

If you do this the decision should be easier, you may decide to wait & get this years models.

Yes the KDL-40W4000 and KDL-40W4000U are the same set. They are all, strictly speaking, KDL-40W4000U but most retailers (including myself) don't bother including the U at the end. At £720 its a very good buy indeed and you'll get a Sony 3 year warranty as standard with it as well.

You need to compare it carefully against the Panasonics. Both brands make excellent sets and it is very much a matter of personal preference. Only your own eyes can be the judge in the end.

If it were my money I would personally go with the Panasonic Plaz as IMHO it offers a far better picture when displaying SD cotent over the other screens you have short listed, yet still giving a fine detailed HD image. Yes it does give away some pixels compared to the other Full HD sets but again IMHO at 37" it's not a noticeible as say on a 50" set or above.

I guess Freesat is not that importnat really considering I will be getting Sky HD anyway. So thats some taken off the list.

Keep the help and advise coming though because it all helps greatlyÿ

I am surprised the 80 81 and 85 models are still available as I bought mine over a year ago. I have had no problems with my TV except for it does not like low quality SD pictures but this will change when our area will tx over to digital broadcasting in August. Sky HD and Bluray are stunning, sound quality is pretty good for a TV set but that is the Z series for you and even though a lot of people on here slate LCD it is still a good format. I compared mine to a Plasma Panny and preferred the image of the LZD85 at this screen size.

TH-P37X10B is your best bet IMHO - I've got one and its brilliant

SD content is superb, DVD's & BluRay via PS3 are stunning. I spent a few hours in our local shop comparing it against other 37" sets including full HD LCDs - in the end its the set that stood out.

I ended up getting the Panasonic LZD80 and Panasonic 35 bluray plus stand. All in for £800
Looking forward to unpacking it tonight and getting it all set up..!
