jerry klinger:
johnnyblue:
Dylan LeBlanc - Paupers Field...great singer/songwriter son of James.
Jenny & Johnny - I'm having fun now...Jenny Lewis + 1.
She & Him - Volume Two. Pure pop.
Laura Veirs - July Flame. Her best album by a mile.
Midlake - The Courage of Others. Everything the Fleet Foxes were supposed to be, but aren't.
Kris Drever - Mark The Hard Earth. Excellent young Scottish singer/songwriter/folkie.
As I agree with you about the Laura Veirs and Midlake vs Fleet Foxes, I'll check out your other suggestions!
My purchased 5 of 2010:
Tin Can Trust - Los Lobos
Once Around - The Autumn Defense
I Tried - David Celia
Propellor Time - Robyn Hitchcock and the Venus 3
Listening Booth 1970 - Mark Cohn
and a reissue - the John Lennon 4CD set Gimme Some Truth - fantastic value and a lot of tracks not heard by me.
As you're the only other person who seems to have heard of Autumn Defense (I have their 2003? album Circles) might I suggest you check out (if you haven't already) last year's Son Volt lp American Central Dust, also Jay Farrar & Ben Gibbard's One Fast Move & I'm Gone and Jeff Tweedy's ost to the film Chelsea Walls - all excellent, in my opinion.
I'm writing this whilst checking out David Celia on Spotify - so far so good - so thanks for the heads up.I'll give your other choices a listen.
Dan Hicks, anyone? Nothing new for a few years but I always like to give him a mention when I can.
