My projector has a setting designed for use with an anamorphic lens, where it stretches a letterbox picture to full height (so that the add on lens can then stretch it out horizontally to get back to a normal, wider, picture that uses the full vertical res of the projector).

However, I haven't been able to find anything on suitable lenses - does anyone have any info on sources/prices?

Popular choices are Prismasonic, Panamorph and ISCO. There are various models available and cost also varies. An ISCO III lens retails for about £5k for the lens and an ISCO II for about £2.5k. Prismasoinc/Panamorph offer a lower cost alterntative. Don't forget to factor in the cost of a motorized sled (required for some solutions) if you want the option to move the lens in/out of position using automation.

There are other manufacturers, used products and even DIY "Aussiemorphic" solutions.

Ouch! That's a bit on the expensive side :-( for a sub-400 quid projector.. I guess the lenses are mainly intended for "proper" cinema setups. Thanks for the info - I'll just have to keep an eye out for a seriously discounted used one :)
