Amplifiers strange behaviour.

I've been sat here a few hours, listening to a bit of music and watching some telly.

i have a Leema Pulse amp, which is gradually turning itself up, the remote control is on the table, nothing is touching it, there are no other remotes that could operate it, but I have watched it gradually turn itself up several times, what could be causing this?

It sometimes happens with fluorescent lights or from overheating. The volume on the Pulse is digital so it's more likely a faulty chip or overheating etc. Do you have something covering the top of the amp blocking ventilation?

Could you explain this further please?

People have reported interference with the remote control IR sensor from high frequency balast fluorescent lights. Channels changing, volume turning up on its own etc.

Well, after having the amp switched off all night, I turned it on this morning and now the amp is turning itself DOWN! On its own.

Maybe your amp commenting on your musical choices? :D

on both occasions I was using the amp to give me sound from the sky box.

I'd get in touch with the dealer you bought it from or from the manufacturer if it's out of warranty.

One thing I've noticed on my system is the Hegel amplifier remote control volume and mute also works on the Naim Unitiqute 2.

I have turned the volume control up to max and back down to min several times, (no sound coming through obviously)

and the issues have since then not appeared.

Ill be keeping an eye on it, and should it become a constant problem I will be sending it off for a repair.

The biggest concern is it turning it's volume up because of you're out of the room in the toilet/shower whatever, the amp could end up at full whack into your speakers and they could be damaged before you get to the amp to turn it down. That and the neighbours going on the warpath!

That would be the worst case scenario.

Fortunately. Since I wound the volume dial around for 5 mins back and forth I have not had any repeat of last nights or this mornings odd behaviour.

The volume was only slowly creeping up, maybe lighting each light around every couple of mins, so, within say 15 mins, it had moved the light on around six places..

those familiar with the leema will know what I mean.

But, as I say.. It's behaved all day, so fingers crossed, it'll be ok.

I would pose the question to Leema Acoustics. Also agree with Jota - don't switch it on until it's rectified, otherwise their could be a lot of driver units and cables flying through the air.

Touchwood, my Pulse is fine....

*EDIT* Just a thought: Try and unplug the amp for about an hour. It may reset itself... then again, it may not. Worth a go...

yeah, that's what I did last night. And this morning it was turning itself down rather than up.

since then, it's been fine, I've had it on all day, just for watching telly, and Not had a problem

I'll be keeping an eye on it, but hoping it's gonna be ok now.
