Hiya,

I'm currently on the lookout for a new system but like most folks, I have no idea where to start.

This site contains some really helpful reviews though, thanks!

My budget is around £900 max for an amp/speakers combo.

Should I start with the amp and build outwards or vice versa? Do some speakers work better with a certain type of amp? (i.e. should the decision be made in tandem?)

I've spotted the NAD D 3020 amp which looks like a great option (mainly due to sound, flexibility and digital compatibility).

Would this go well with some Q Acoustics 3050 Floor Standing Speakers or are they far too fancy for an amp of this type?

Thanks in advance,

Rob. 🙂

That would be a very good combination. Personally I think Q Acoustics' speakers are hard to beat for the money, and often quite a bit more.

If you wanted an alternative amp suggestion to consider, I'd recommend Yamaha's A-S501, A-S701, and R-N602 models as being well worth looking at, and excellent partners for Q Acoustics. There are also some great Onkyo amps, with the TX-8150 offering a strong combination of sound and flexibility. Alternatively you could opt for the A-9010(UK), and add a good external DAC of your choice.

Hi, I have a D3020 with Q Acoustics Concept 20's and they are a brilliant match and punch way above their weight sound-wise - bags of functionality too
