All Tweaked Out! Where to go from here?

I recently got back into Hi-Fi again after a long time out whilst the kids were young and I've built up a nice little system out of bits I've inherited or bought off of ebay. I've done just about every tweak I can think of and being honest it's actually a really nice sounding little system but as every body here probably knows you can't sit still with it for long and I'd be interested in hearing what other people think would be the best way to go with it from here.

The system at the moment is:-

Marrantz CD52 MKII CD Player
Arcam Alpha 2 Amp
Mission V60 Speakers on Linn Kan stands

All connected together with:-

Atlas Equator Interconnect
Atlas Hyper Bi-wire Speaker Cable
Tacima CS-929 Mains Conditioner
(Amp and CD Player have had upgraded mains cables fitted)

Always wear rubber soled shoes when listening to music. It's common knowledge that music sounds better because of standing wave patterns and reflectivity of rubber not to mention the body damping that occurs.Likewise if you cup your ears with your hands, the sound becomes more 3 dimensional and fuller.My last tip is to ensure that your speaker cables are tied in a figure of 8 knot near the amp end as this reduces radio frequency interruption and interference improving detail and giving more insight.

I like listening on summer evening with all my windows open just after the rain, as the rain removes the 'muck' in the air and this allows the sound to travel at a more uniform speed.

How much is you desire to change based on need to alter the sound because it's detrimental in some way, or is it more an itch to update for the sake of change? If it's the latter, well, careful with that, if it's the former, then I'd stick with your source for a while yet. I used to have the same CD player and it was a fine unit. Maybe the speakers? Possibly the amp? You've got some good bits of kit there, but don't be put off by their age - newer doesn't necessarily mean better. Ask anyone who's got themselves some vintage kit and loves it still!

Thats where I was going wrong then! Instead of wearing rubber soled shoes I had a cat strapped to each foot. Couldn't work out where the strange yowling noises were coming from. Thanks for the heads up!!

Now you see the 'cat strapped to foot' technique is almost the last resort all of us weirdos adhere to when we're bored. It comes in at number 6 in the "most unlikely ways to improve the sound of your hifi". Number 3 I'll point out is 'Improve the sound of your hifi whilst wearing a lubricated close knit PVC skin with a 6.165kg weight applied to your genitals with a woman applying make-up to your face'.
