But if you get the 651P you will have 3 boxes in total, and you want less. If you combine the CX A80 + Azur 651P you will get the combination of amp + DAC + phono in two boxes.

No you can not! I went to the local hifi-dealer today and the said that besides the 651P i need a analog preamp. So in total 4 boxes!

Well I still have time to think about it since the cxa 80 first arrive in the beginning of march ;-)

With CX A80 + Azur 651P you don't need analogue preamp.

With Azur 651W + DacMagic Plus + Azur 651P you need extra analogue preamp because your DacMagic Plus has no extra analogue input.

Have you thought about about a Good quality AV amp one that has phono stage and most of them now have built in streaming services but what ever your going to choose your end up with 3 boxes anyway and add a record player that's 4 and if your still looking for quality sound then Hifi separates is still the way to go unless your into PC based hi res music files , streaming then your looking at active speakers and so on

The signal coming from the turntable is very low and needs to be EQ-ed to RIAA, so you send it to the phono preamp. Out of the phono amp comes out signal at line level just like it comes out from a CDP, Tuner, Phone, TV etc. So you can plug it in to any analogue line level input.

And the 651P has a volume control on the top plate. You can see it from an angle.

I don't recommend pluging in your phono and DAC in a splitter cable without an RCA switch box, but if you don't want an extra box without spending more money, you have to risk and sacrifice something.

Even if you get an RCA switch box, it needs to have a quality switching. If it thumps and pops loudly when you switch it may damage your speakers.

BTW, you don't have a turntable yet. Why are you so insistent on buying the 651P now? Buy it when you get the CX A80 later.

"And the 651P has a volume control on the top plate."

What you see on the top plate is just a cambridge symbol with no function.

Well I guess you are stuck with one option and one option only (for when you get a TT). CX A80 + 651P :)

Or your original 651W with a ADL GT40a because it had a DAC, phono stage and a proper pre-amp with volume control. I'd post a pic but it's beyond me.

That is a great suggestion but nananananaanananananaa wants to use the same store where he got his amp and DAC so he can get store credit for changing gear. And the store only has budget Denons and Cambridge Audio. *unknw*

There's always that popular auction website where unwanted items can be turned back into cash and where items not available in your local store can be purchased.

I agree your stuck with 2 choices Cambridge. Or denon but do not get me wrong both make some good stuff but you need. Choice ! If you want to cut down how meany boxes you are useing I would cut your losses and sell what you have now and buy what is right for you to get less boxes or have more boxes then you started with by going Cambridge or denon but thought that denon would do something with a built in phono stage ? The Cambridge Cx 80 is a nice amp and great sound too and it's a shame Cambridge do not build this with built in phono stage but I had a look at there range of amps and none of them have phono stage which I find shocking
