A perfect AV Receiver to partner Monitor Audio Gold Surround system

I'm just in the process of researching a new AV receiver after my 4 year old Onkyo TX-NR905 has given up the ghost. It was a great receiver but I felt I got the partnership with the speakers wrong. For movies it was near perfect but for music it was too bright, especially with guitar rock at LOUD volumes. After the failure of the Onkyo (Overheating I think) I'm reluctant to go their way again. The Pioneer SC-LX75 or 85 models reviews look good, but all the advice is to stay away from pairing with Bright speakers.

Does anyone have experience of the GS60's and gold series or have any thoughts on an AV receiver which is suited to bright speakers. Budget £1k to £2k.

Cheers

Hi Rs13

Yamaha's recently discontinued Aventage RX-A2010 or Aventage RX-A3010 AV receivers are worth a look particularly as the RX-A2010 and RX-A3010 are generally available around half their RRP. Fwiw, i've got clients who are happily using Yamaha AV amplification with Monitor Audio's Gold GS Series speakers. Alternatively Yamaha's new Aventage RX-A2020 and RX-A3020 AV receivers are also worth bearing in mind.

In my experience Yamaha AV amplification + Monitor Audio speakers form a great tonal match with music or movie soundtracks (time after time) :rockout:

Btw, Anthem's MRX 700 AV receiver is also worth consideration :)

All the best
