Is it the Bluray disks that don’t comply with the Bluray specifications or the players?
Numerous disks require firmware updates to players which enable playback of certain Bluray films.
In the long term it would appear that the Bluray format will fail due to compatibility issues unless the industry does something about these issues.
Where film producers/hardware manufactures are one in the same e.g. Sony it is easy to release firmware before the file goes on sale thus giving a false sense of compatibility, but where they are not it’s currently an complete pain in the Khybur Pass when it goes wrong.
Clearly from a customer point of view continuous firmware updates are not acceptable.
Surely making simple compatible disks should be a priority for all new releases to quiet down these issues.
What if anything do whathifi do about passing back consumer comments about the software?
