Does anyone use a home theatre system i.e. an AV amp and 5.0 speakers without a subwoofer?

Configuration of a subwoofer shouldn't be too much of an issue with an AV amplifier

I live in a 1st floor flat so a subwoofer is out of the question, does it mean the rumbles are out, yes, does something seem missing when watching action films, no, your ears adapt.
