4Ω Speaker Support?

Hello,

I'm thinking about upgrading my Onkyo Home Receiver (TX-SR 706) with one of the new Pioneer SC-LX receivers. In the specs of these receivers, they claim "4Ω Speaker Support" for all 57/77 and 87 series.

My question is what does that exactly mean? My previous receiver didn't have this I guess...

This might be especially important as I'm going to also upgrade my speakers from B&W 684 to Sonus Faber Venere 3.0 - does that mean that I absolutely need this 4Ω Speaker Support?

Venere are 6ohm nominal so would be fine with an amp set to 4/6/8ohm unless driven very close to the limit.. Unlikely I would hope!
