No, it's more important that the picture doesn't bust out of the text area of the site and cause all kinds of disruptive problems with side-bars, text and so on.

It's not a bandwidth issue for us, as we're not hosting the pictures, but of course smaller file sizes will load faster, and thus cause fewer problems for those with slower connections.

So it's best to keep the source pictures small before you post them to the site, as well as sticking to 400px max width when displayed.

Ah, ok. That makes sense.

And here I was thinking that you were just being considerate to your users!

Okily-dokily. I'm sure that it could be set to make sure the max size is 400px though (rather than having to constantly moderate--although the users are generally pretty good here, so it's probably not a big deal).

Philips are playing the wait and see game on 3d TV. Let the other fools rush in. Let us see if this sudden spike in interest in 3D sustains over time.Avatar didn't get the gongs at the Awards so far and has the industry cast its verdict?? The Oscars might show a breakthrough for the film.

Also,Sony's research facilities at Runcon where they are refitting the 3D into Games in an experimental phase have hinted that the 3D works well only on certain types of games and it has to enhance the game for a game to be refitted with 3D. That's hardly a 100% endorsement on getting all games into 3D like converting an entire DVD catalogue into BR.

If I was a share holder, that would make me sell some stock on 3D TV

The attaction of these new Size 0 razor thin LED TVs from Samsung and Philips are for the 2D for now surely.

Not too sure how launching two ranges of 3D-ready TVs is 'playing the wait and see' game; to me it just looks like a sensible business decision to keep down the number of products in the catalogue by offering consumers the choice of either taking the 3D capability via the purchase of a transmitter/glasses pack, or not.

How else do you suggest the TV synchs with the glasses? Via cables to each viewer?

I am sticking well clear of 3D, untill the wireless aspect has disappeared, When you can have it without the glasses in the future will the wireless aspect go then?

Thanks

If/when 3D is possible without the need to wear glasses, then there will be no requirement for a wireless connection to the non-existent glasses.

I'm not sure we have specifications that detailed yet. But 3D capability shouldn't add anything of any significance to the weight of a TV.
