Instead of having two HDMI outs on AV receiver as many want for pj and tv, can you use component vid to pj (dont need sound after all). Does the Denon AVR 2309 for instance or others that are out send all input signals, from HDMI or svid too both hdmi out and component out? I don't like the idea of having to get an HDMI splitter box as possible interference unless you spend a lot. If anyone knows the answer would be grateful to know myself. Cheers

The issue with using the component out connection is that you can't output hdmi connected sources over that connection type. Digital to analogue video conversion isn't available - the main reason is that you would be affected by High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) outside of any other connection than hdmi/dvi.

As you can upconvert analogue video to digital hdmi on a wide range of even budget av amps these days, the less expensive solution than looking for an av amp/receiver with twin hdmi outputs is to use a hdmi splitter. You don't need to spend a lot, less than £50 such as http://hdcompany.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=1_21&products_id=29 (I don't have any affiliation with this company by the way).

Thanks. Went to local denon dealer he thought the same thing, and I hadn't even considered hdcp which would def be an issue. With splitters the all seem to say identical output.. do you know if that means the give off same output, or output screen has to be the same. As receiver auto detects screen res and my tv is 32" and not fullHD but projector will be, i'm thinking this might be an issue, and may have to turn amp on and off. Guess thats not to bad just need to have switch on splitter to go to one or other display. Thanks again for the component answer as can cross that option off now.
