    Which new MP3 player

The Cowon J3 has received some good reviews recently, including in the sound department. It's available in a maximum capacity of 16Gb but is expandable with MicroSD cards. There's more stuff about it here. I don't have one (I currently use an Archos 605) but would put it on my shortlist if the...

Squeezebox Duet - WiFi and Bridging questions

To answer your second question - the SBD controller does set up its own wireless link. Have you considered using Homeplug adapters to bring an ethernet link over the mains? It would obviate routing an ethernet cable, although the Homeplug adapters can run fairly hot so you would need adequate...

Help me choose a NAS device

I have a QNAP TS 209-II that I use to run Squeezecenter for my Duet. Whilst I'm satisfied with it I think a 109-II would have suited my purposes and it has the advantage of being silent. The 209-II's fan is quiet but was noticeable enough for me to install it in the attic. Installation of...

    Squeezebox

I don't think the Squeezebox would disgrace itself with the Cyrus. Of course the source files have to be up to scratch - Apple Lossless, FLAC etc. And with its support for internet radio (including iPlayer) you've got yourself a tuner too. Have a look at this thread from the Slimdevices forum...

    Digital photos wireless to TV

'Cos Columbus wrote: "I was thinking of a small remote controlled stand-alone unit that just works as an interface to the NAS with either cabeled or wireless access to the network and output to the TV." ...and for all its merits the PS3 ain't as small (or cheap) as the Archos :-)

Sony RDRHXD970 aspect ratio of recordings

Is this a feature of DVD+R/RW disks or of Sony's in general? I have a Sony RDR-HX510 and it will only record 16:9 on DVD-R/RW.

Streaming high def / standard def video on PS3 to HDTV

I have a couple of Devolo 200 AVdesk adapters (they're the desktop version - cheaper than the plug version). They work very well and are extremely easy to set up. I don't have experience of using them to stream HD, unfortunately. The utility than comes with them reports up and downstream rates...

    Digital photos wireless to TV

The Archos 605 with the optional DVR station may do the job. Whilst it's primarily a video and music player it can play photo slideshows, has WiFi and can stream from PCs too. A 40Gb version with the DVR station can be had for about £250 from http://www.pixmania.co.uk . I think there's a review...

Recording DAB / FM / AM

Unless your mp3 player supports mp2 (DAB uses this to compress the audio) you'll need to convert between formats. iTunes will do this, or use mp3DirectCut - http://mpesch3.de1.cc/mp3dc.html which also allows you to edit the files.
