Something a little different today - Music of the Night, from Phantom of the Opera, sung by Michael Crawford. Everyone immediately associates him with Frank Spencer, but he's a very communicative singer and he touches the heart of this song.
For me it doesn't get much better for New Wave then Martha Davis and The Motels. The studio version is all cleaned up but this live version from 79/80 is raw and powerful and shows her iconic voice was not through some machine!
At 2:45 she is really into the performance. I was 17 in 79 and so glad I experienced the whole Punk, Post Punk/New Wave scene. Great times!
