Yamaha YSP-40D or Onkyo 606

Hi,

I'm looking for some advise on which surround system to buy for my new Pioneer 42" plasma.

2 options are the Yamaha YSP-40D sound-bar -OR- Onkyo 606 amplifier with Kef KHT 1005.2 speakers

How good is the Sound-bar?

I appreicate any feedback a.s.a.p.

What will you be using it for mainly? i.e. just TV watching or full surround for movies? I personally don't believe a sound bar can come close to actually having the full 5.1 speaker setup for surround in movies, but if this isn't really a major factor for you, the soundbar will be a neater solution.

Soundbars only really work if you have a perfectly square or rectangular room with your tv mounted bang in the middle of one wall - if its off to one side, in a corner or in an L-shaped room don't bother - personally the amp and speaker set up will kill it in terms of sound and flexibility for the future!!!

At the end of day I'm buying for HD tv - however the 5.1 setup I understand I can use as a HiFi system which is a great advantage as the old one has packed up. This new sound-bar does sound impressive though.
