Hi all, I am considering picking up a RXV 2600 but sadly it did not come with the mic optimizer for set up. Id appreciate some advice and possible help;

Is manual set up that more difficult compared to auto with calibratrion mic? If yes where can i get my hands on one of these, anyone have one for sale? :) General question; is £140 considered a decent price for one of these?

I had the RX-v2400 and was superb, easy to setup by ear, only thing I used it for was to setup EQ but as my speakers are all the same they can be done Flat. If you need help shout and il see if I can instruct.

Thanks for the advice Darrell, Haleem i may just take you up on that offer? Im in North Wembley but within reach of most places as i use a Vespa. Right now im nursing a football injury with leg in cast hence too much time on my hands buying AV recievers!

Reciever should arrive in next couple of days but will sure to check here for advice from you lovely people

Thanks once again

Is everyone this nice in all the forums? Thanks guys. Haleem where abouts are you? I dont mind taking the time to come to you and collect as you are doing me a big favour?

Reciever arrived yesterday, packed up my old RXV596 (true war horse but overdue signs and sounds of age) rigged this one up. I thought the old one was good for an entry level but damn this sounds awesome, vinyl records sounds rich and alive and i have fallen back in love with my CD collection as i tended to stream my music from mac via apple TV.

AV sounds like it needs setting just the once so I can leave it alone as i dont want to spend time tinkering it after each movie. Not used to a GUI and doubt i will be connecting all HDMI units through the Amp just for the sake of GUI.

Sadly the only thing i cannot do is play SACD's but i;ll have to find another work around for that

HI Darrell, I have a PS3 60GB that can output seperate channnels for SACD, although the reciever is not capable of decoding SACD signals. So its more the amp rather than the source

Oh I thought you would connect SACD player by analogue outputs to multichannel input on amp so you receive each channel as it was recorded.

I believed the ps3 may do this over HDMI but your amp then wouldn't decode the desperate 5.1 soundtrack.

Your right Darryl, amp does not allow for 5 channel input. Its not a massive dissappointment for now. Wil just have to wait until Iupgrade AV next year

Nooo.... You're amp is fine, you have 8channel input on back of amp. But you will need a dedicated Bluray/SACD with analogue outs to play SACD's, or an old DVD player that I have spare with analogue outs to play SACD's so no need to wait to upgrade you're amp. An oppo Bluray/SACD player will do it as well as the Cambridge audio Bluray/SACD player I have.

Here is you're amp
