Hi. I'm new to What HIFI and was wondering if someone could help me.

I bought a yamaha rx-v673 and have electric underfloor heating which causes the receiver to lose the signal when it powers on and off. This causes a loss of picture and sound completely for a few seconds. As well as being irritating I am worried that it will damage my receiver. Is there anything a can do to stop the power/signal disruption. Thanks.

Without knowing your home wiring I'm presuming the in floor may be on the same circuit as the socket on your AV amp.

They normally recommend in floor has it's own circuit. If this is the case (and you have a large heated area) the power demand may be enough to cause a drop out on your amp.

A quick test would be to run an extension lead from another circuit and turn the stat on for your in floor and see if anything happens.

There are only two socket circuits in the house (one upstairs and one downstairs) and both have underfloor heating. The electrician installed the underfloor heating onto the existing circuits. Would a main power conditioner solve the problem? Thanks.

Maybe you could try a surge protector and plug the amp into that.

You can get em for 5 quid from amazon. That may be enough to equalize the surges from your stat.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-Surge-Master%C2%AE-1-Way-Master/dp/B0001GYNJC/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1382367444&sr=8-4&keywords=surge+protector

May be worth calling them to explain your problem?

Other than that if you have a spare breaker on your board, you could have a dedicated supply run, but that will obviously cost
