Yamaha RX-V383 5.1-Channel AV Receiver. Will it perform well as music amp?

Yamaha RX-V383 5.1-Channel AV Receiver.
I am looking for a amp and a cd player on a limited budget and hav finally got my funds together.
I was plumming for the Yamaha RS202D with DAB and Bluetooth for £199 at richer sounds but then saw the Yamaha RX-V383 5.1-Channel AV Receiver available on offer for the same money.
How would these 2 compare musically? The latter seems to have more features and be more future proof connection wise.
Please help with which would be a better purchase.
I will be putting a lowish priced cd player with it and streaming deezer.

Does a AV Receiver work well as a hifi amp?? Im not sure on the difference.

Yes you can use an AV receiver for stereo. Many will tell you it won't be as good for that use however it really depends on the unit itself.

I never used any Mordaunt Shorts myself so unsure if the pairing will work well. Make sure you're able to return the unit if it doesn't sound good with your speakers.
