Thanks for the quick reply.

As there isn't any dealers getting the DSPAX863SE in my country, will RX-V perform as good as the DSPAX?

Another alternative will be getting Denon 2809. Recommendation?

dennisk:will RX-V perform as good as the DSPAX?

Not the foggiest - we haven't tested the RX-V versions.

We advise never mixing the front speakers in a surround set-up (or ideally any). At a pinch you may be able to get away with front from one range and a centre from another range from the same manufacturer (assuming the tonal characteristics are very similar), but I can't see those Dali and B&W speakers working well together in terms of sonic cohesion....

Thanks Clare for your kind advise.

As Dali and B&W is sold by seperate dealers in Singapore, i'm not able to audit it with the same setting. In this case i will be going for same manufacturer.
As for AV receivers, i'm considering either Denon AVR 2309 or 2809, i guess the difference is the watt per channel rating. will 15 watt per channel make a lot of diff? assuming i'm going to pair with Ikon 2.

So, can anyone comment on how much better the RXV1800 is than the 863/Denon et al?

I have an old Yamaha DSP-A1 (still great but no HDMI/7 channels etc) and want to get a new AV Amp but do not want to lose the quality of the A1. What have I got to go for? Will the 1800 do the job, or do I have to go to the 3800 instead? I live in Spain and they sell both these models in black, which I want, and at a fairly competitive price too (?835 for the 1800 and ?1125 for the 3800). My main problem with the DSPA1 is that it wont accept banana plugs for the speaker terminals. This is a pain as I have thick bi-wired cable which is difficult to get in correctly. Anyone know whether the 2 new amps have banana plug capability? I have looked on the internet and it looks like the terminals would accept banana plugs, but there is some mention of this will only work in certain countries. I'm confused.......

I have a 3800, which I think is great. ÿIt isn't a 'new model', of course and was never reviewed by the WHF team but is well thought of elsewhere. ÿI was particularly influenced by my dealer, HiFix, who regularly post on here. ÿIt's interesting that the latest Yamaha amps are earning such plaudits and I can't wait to see what kind of reviews the 1900 and 3900 get!

The 3800 does accept banana plugs but, like many other amps, the little caps need removing with a screw. ÿGive it a couple of turns and the cap will pull out.ÿ

Many thanks for your reply. So, I presume the 1800 would have the same facility with the caps? I dont know whether i can justify spending the extra on the 3800, but as they are both being replaced shortly, maybe the Spanish company I am talking to will drop the prices further. Fingers crossed on that......

The 863 will not give you the same quality of sond as your Rotel , the bigger models will - the RXV1900 and above - but the presentation of the sound will be very different. The Pioneer SC-LX71 or the Marantz SR7002 will be closer in terms of sound and still match the quality but will still be quite different. I would see if you can listen to these products first.
