Which do I choose the moon is from a dealer, he also has an Equinox cd also £1000.Or cyrus pre/xpower/8cdse. Speakers are going to be Pmc GB1i's, the main problem is the Moon CD! the wife hates the look of the photo's of it on the Websites are there any other choices for the same mony that will work well.

i'm guessing here, but i reckon the cyrus cdp will match very nicely with the moon amp. in the mags ultimate guide to hifi, in the review of the cyrus xtse and dac x they have the i3rs as the perfect partner. i will be checking them (cd8se and xtse + dacx) with my amp soon. my i3rs is quite warm sounding so cyrus might balance that out nicely. if it doesn't work for me then i will probably go back to a kandy mk.lll cdp, as it sounded great through the moon.

as to the looks, never seen the cdp, but the i3 amp looks about a thousand times better in the flesh then in photos.

Thanks Craig M. I hadn't thought of puting the Cyrus cd with the moon amp.

I've been impressed with the Moon Equinox and Eclipse players I've heard.

i want to do just that, but might get the transport as well because i do sometimes think it would be better to have a backup in case the mac or ipod remote go belly up. not keen on having to turn my plasma on to listen to music. i sometimes seem to miss the palaver of having a big pile of cd's out too! i was going to use my dvd player as a transport but it resamples the digital out to 48khz.

i really do think that there is every chance i'll like the cyrus and moon pairing, and if i don't the mac mini can go upstairs and i'll happily slum it with another kandy cdp.

is the equinox better looking in the flesh asthough to speak because the other half really doesn't like the photo's i've found.

consider the i1. i thought it was better than the i3 which was much warmer/laid back and the music seemed to loose a little energy.

In general, I've often found smaller amps in a a range to sound a bit more "fun" and "fast" than their larger brothers, however, it may be because they are underpowered and sounding strident.

I wouldn't say thats the case in this instance, certainly no harshness/shrillness in the demo/my set up.

from their website i thought all i3's in the uk were rs models.

might be wrong though.

I was told only newer one that comply with the Eu lead levels etc,
that what the dealer says.
