Hi all,

I would like to buy nice Hi-Fi but have no experience at all. I did some research but still can't decide. I am considering following options:

1) Denon PMA-710AE + DCD-710AE

2) Yamaha A-S700 + CD-S700

3) Marantz PM6003 + CD6003

I like very much Denon's features and design but I was very disapointed with reviews I found on internet. Marantz has beautiful design (I prefer silver) and I was impressed with the reviews, but I am not sure if it's powerfull enough. I would like to buy nice pair of floorstanding speakrs to match this Hi-Fi but I'm affraid 45W won't be enough to feed the speakers. For this reason I am considering Yamaha but to be honest I don't like its design very much and I am not sure about its sound quality.

I was also thinking about 4th option which would be combination of Marantz more powerful amplifier PM7003 and CD6003. Do you think they would match together? Any opinion is much appreciated. Thank you.

I have Marantz PM7003 and CD6003 toggeder with B&W684 and they sound superb!

Did you mean PM7003 as amp? I'm using the PM/CD6003 combo with B&W685 and they sound quite loud although I've never really cranked them up above 1/3rd. For floorstanders you may need more power, best is to have a listen and see how loud is loud enough for you.

The WHF review says: "The sonic balance of both the CD player and amp is consistent and the two work together well enough for us to question the need to mix-and-match with rivals. If you like one of the 6003s, we're certain you'll like the other."

Personally, I would stick with the same series like PM/CD6003 or PM/CD7003.

Sorry, my mistake. Of course I meant PM7003 amplifier. Thank you both for opinion.

I don't see why it shouldn't go well together.

B&W 685/684 are a perfect match for the Marantz.
