witch dolby upward firing modules should i use?

hi all i have the monitor audio rs6av speaker package and denon x2200w amp i want to know witch dolby atmos upward firing modules that ypu put on top of your main speakers would be the perfect match ie with brand would be best thanks?

They don't.

Onkyo make upfiring modules, but they are not very good at all, they cost £120 a pair. The only decent upfiring speakers available to Brits are made by Kef, but they cost £600 a pair! Definitive Technology in America also make good upfiring speakers, but they are almost as expensive as the Kef models.

Not upfiring, but xtz cinema s2's could be a consideration for on wall or on celling options? But there is only a few brands that make them sadly. I guess some of it because of dobly charge for the licensing for be atmos speakers.

If you're placing them on the ceiling, you can use any speakers. You don't need Dolby certified ones.

If you only want up firing, then the kef are the only speakers that are any good. I have the onkyos and they are not very good, I have a pair.

im going to install front and rear heights for my future atmos setup and I can use any speaker as BB has confirmed. Lots of people are doing this because cutting holes isn't an option...

True, just just offering another option as these seem pretty versitle with placement.

Elac have upward firing Atmos speakers with their new Debut range. They're £249 a pair and by the same designer as the KEFs. Whether they'll tonally match your Monitor Audios is another matter.

Whether the next grade up (Elac Uni-Fi) will also have Atmos speakers when the range is launched later this year remains to be seen.

Thse go high up on the wall, just below the ceiling, and are angled downwards. Look on amazon.com (not .co.uk) for pictures and spec.

Not sure they're sold in the UK but you could ask a UK Klipsch dealer.

If you can bury cables in the walls, or just put up with cables going up the walls, but can't / won't / don't want to put in in-ceiling speakers, these are an alternative.

If you want floor level speakers that point upwards and bounce sound off the ceiling you won't get the best Atmos experience, but I'd dig around and see what you can find. Most of them are just bookshelf speakers pointed upwards anyway, IMHO.

No, I gather that upward-firing Atmos speakers have a high-frequency notch filter, they are not simply normal speakers angled upwards.

Onkyo SKH-410 - $150 a pair on Amazon.com (not .co.uk) but only 25 watts RMS per channel (and I don't think you'll hear a lot of that bounced off a ceiling)

Pioneer SP-T22A-LR - $200 a pair on Amazon.com, but again power is weak

Definitive Technology A60-ATMO-A - $400 a pair and about 50 watts RMS

Atlantic Technology 44-DA-P-BLK - $400 a pair and not as powerful as the Definitive Technology items.

Or, you could just try putting a pair of modest bookshelf speakers on their backs and seeing how they do...

Indeed, apart from not being able to distinguish between "witch" and "which", he has poor manners. This is not the first thread that he has started asking for advice, and then disappears. Well, not completely, because he does log on to the site again, but he never acknowledges any help, help that he had specifically asked for! I've mentioned this to him before, to no avail. I personally won't be responding to any of markyboy156's single-entry posts again, until he shows some gratitude.
