Will/should all hifi move inside the TV?

it's why bose do so well - but strangely they haven't tackled the sonos market....

Bose has been offering ripping/storage and multiroom via its Bose Link-equipped Lifestyle systems for well over a decade, at first with wired connection between systems in other rooms, and more recently with wireless, supporting multiple zones.

Perhaps they know no better, perhaps the visual re-enforcement allow them to believe the sound is right and perhaps they just are not nuts about the sound as so many of us are. Perhaps one half of the decision making ears will not have extra boxes everywhere even on the walls. Why worry if it doesn't affect you?

Could be on the back of the screen, and just fold down when required

no go for me. don't have a TV and don't want to have one.

but a quality files player with a large display with internal SSD storage, rather than relying on networked connection, would definitely be something I'd be tempted to replace my CDP.

I really hope not, hi-fi would be much less exciting if we were all staring at the tv

Do you sit and stare at the hifi when listening to music? That sounds much more exciting.

Should try it, watching a turntable spin is very therapeautic
