Wiim Amp Ultra or Eversolo Play

One box solutions are perfect for kitchen or dining room.

In few YT reviews they appear to favour the WiiM amp ultra for sound quality but I think the Eversolo Play will edge it in user interface experience.

I have many little boxes in my diner room but should I want to streamline it, the WiiM and Eversolo would be ideal solution.

One box is the future….. enjoy the Jazz

I have no experience of either so can't help there, I'm lots of others will.

I do wonder if one box is the future? It makes a lot of sense from the point of view of taking up less space and looking neat. However, streamers and DACs are getting better, and cheaper. If I was starting again with a new system I would be looking at a amp that would last me a long time and separate streamer giving me the option to upgrade.

Look out for standby electric consumption on chi-fi. EU regs is no higher than 0.5 watts on standby, which both my Marantz boxes comply with. The Wiim Ultra consumes 4-6 watts on standby with no off switch. Not huge, but certainly not in line with EU regs. My Topping head-amp has an off switch on the back.

Everything has an off switch, it's called the mains socket.....

I thought I get in before @Gray ha ha ha!

Not true in the USA 😊

No, standard electrical outlets (receptacles) in the USA do not have individual ON/OFF switches. Power is controlled through the main circuit breaker panel or by unplugging the device.

You can still unplug the device, I suppose 😄

Thanks for your comments, at the moment I am leaning towards the Eversolo Play and the new Eversolo SE100 speakers as they were designed for each other.

This will be for a second system in my new office / man cave once we move into our new house once it’s been finished.

We relocated from the UK to Poland last October and our main system, along with all our other chattels are still in storage there.

The main system is a Linn Selekt DSM Edition Hub with twin Stereo power out cartridges with two Organik DACs. These drive a pair of Linn 119 speakers, hence the tagline, “One box is the future”.

It may be nice to have two one box systems, each from a different manufacturer.

When our chattels arrive over here, there will be some plug changing and, in Poland there are no switched sockets neither.

So looking forward to getting everything set up.

As per the title, has anyone compared the two and, if so, what were your thoughts?

Which one did you end up with?

Hi, my experience is quite "sweet" sound of eversolo, which is not my taste. WiiM is more resolute with worse app. My choice will be Rega Brio mk7 (with very good Dac inside) and Bluesound Node 4. They combined, using Node just as streaming drive via coax to Brio mk7 is truly great combination. Amp in Brio is a lot better than WiiM or Eversolo Play +you get very very good phonostage inside Brio.😉
