Hi all,

I am looking for a (wireless, ethernet) soundcard with a 24bit/192KHz DAC, which will fit (in terms of "quality" level) into my existing system:

Amp: Denon pma 1500ae

Speakers: Wharfedale evo 40

Files: From mp3 to Flac etc

I am not looking for Network players such as the Marantz NA7004 or Denon 720AE, because they seem to offer way too much possibilities for me: I just want to press play in Itunes/VLC on my Mac and transfer the music via my home network to this Soundcard/DAC to my Amp. I am also not looking for USB soundcards (such as Audioengine D2 Premium).

The mac will always be connected wirelessly to the network. It is fine for me when this soundcard/dac is connected to the network via an ethernet cable.

I am very curious i you are having good options:) !

so are you basically looking for a DAC that will accept a wireless signal? If I get this right you want no connection between your Mac and the DAC / Amplifier / Speakers where the music is being sent to?

If I have that right then have you looked at the Arcam rDac Wireless? Also I believe NAD do a wirless DAC the DAC1....not sure if there are any more.

Bluetooth could be another option, if the MAC has Bluetooth capability.

Obviously if you confirm a budget other people may be better placed to help and advise.

I don't think either or them will do 24/192 over wireless though. In fact I'm not sure very much (if anything) does.

thx for your post

Yes you're right: a DAC that will accept a wireless signal.

The Arcam rDac Wireless (Arcam rdac kw) may be an option.....The_Lhc seems to be right that it won't do 24/192 over wireless. The Arcam also seems to need a usb dongle, which i won't prefer

My Macbook has bluetooth...my budget is around £200 - 350. In the world of the (in my opinion ridiculously overpriced) wireless DACs I may have to adjust my wishes ;)

yeah probably

The Musical Fidelity M1-CliC is for instance also limited to 24 bit 96 Khz wirelessly and wired it will do 192 Khz.....which seems to be in the higher segment of the market

Doh missed that in the Original Post and yep I agree as well then, I think you will really struggle to get 24/192 over either wireless or Bluetooth.

Personally I only use a maximum of 24/96 downloads.....because 1. there are more accessable DAC's for this (although I do use USB), 2. I honestly cannot hear any difference, personally, between 96kHz and 192kHz downloads and 3. most 192kHz downlaods are classical or opera, which I dont listen to.

Not much help to the OP I know
