which speakers/cables? rega rp1 marantz CD 6500 with rega brio

just purchased a rega rp1 turntable and a marantz CD 6500, i bought a rega brio amp to work with both the turntable and cd player, im now stuck on which speakers to buy for this set-up. any suggestions on the best stand mount speakers up to £500 that will compliment this system to it's best. any upgraded cables worth buying to further enhance the sound or would this be a waste of money. thanks

All good in different ways. All depends on your ears though...
