Guys,

Can I get some advise on this pls. The receiver is Pioneer SC-LX71 and the setup is all Wharfadale Diamond 9 speakers. I find the overall sonic signature to be very much on the warmer side and therefore sounding kindda muted to me. Interestingly tryin our these speakers in a mates place with a Yamaha RX-V3800 , the speakers just started to shine. The Pioneer which i'm guessing a warm sounding electronic with the warm speakers I guess must have exaggerated the warmth.

Back to the point, can anyone suggest a system that would be much more trasparent , detailed and brighter then the Diamond 9 series pls ? Anyone has experinece with Paradigm Studio and PSB Imagine series. What bout Mordaunt Short Mezzo 2 ?

The input would be much appreciated .

Thanks

I recently went from Diamond 9.1s to some Tannoy speakers (my review here http://whathifi.com/Review/Tannoy-Revolution-Signature-DC6T/UserReviews/).

I know exactly what you mean about the warmth. I didn't really notice this until I changed speakers. Although I purchased the Tannoys for stereo I also use them for movies, and the improvement over the 9.1s is massive in this regard.

I guess you should also consider a new receiver though as that might be cheaper than changing all of the your speakers (not sure how many you have).

The pioneer is a bright am,and you have a good one.

Its not doing the speakers any good, I have the vsx819 with the diamonds and they are warm.

I am going to get the RX6 soon. I suggest you get better speakers with that amp

you could try listening to an MK setup such as the M5/M7`s or if budget allows the new 950`s

MK are known to be very detailed and accurate (which they are) and so imho should be included in your search

as a cinema room speaker they are just superb and the new 950`s are really excellent with music as well

you certainly wouldn`t be disappointed

I've was always under the impression that Pioneer made bright sounding electronics and having used an older receiver it only convinced me even more. But I think it's no longer the case with the newer ICEamp based SC-LX receivers. I realized this when i heard the same setup being driven by a Yamaha RX-V3800 which was certainly more brighter.

Anyway , what sound signature are the MAs normally associated to ? Aren't they supposed to me more on they warmer side of neutral ?

@stereolad - do u find the tannoy to be more detailed and brighter therefore much more transparent overall then the Diamonds ?
