which small speakers for ipod and rotel amp

i have a rotel ra931 and an ipod dock but can't find any decent speakers.they have to be very small as they are going to be in a computer cupboard and can't be more than 12cm wide.i had acoustic energy aego2 but got fed up with the booming bass so switched to my old rotel amp,have tried kef eggs but they are too tinny.i listen to dance/trance and punk.i don't have the space for an ipod dock system but can spend upto £300 to get the right setup.it is also difficult for me to get to a decent hifi shop so will have to rely on experts opinions

Well IMO you will need some sort of sub woofer. 12cm wide means max 10cm drivers which will never put out an adequate amount of bass.

I would have maybe suggested the Quad L-ites http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/page/moreinfo.cfm/Product_ID/2480 but they are 13.5cm wide!

There are also the Monitor Audio Radius 90HD but they are a fraction too wide to.

I agree with Jazzy though in that you may need a sub for speakers of this size. Depends on the level of bass you are after...

thanks for the replies i think a sub may be the answer but what one and which speakers out of the ae aego m or the kef 1005.2 pairs should i keep and how do i wire the sub to the rotel amp
