Hi,

As far as features, sound quality, power output, picture quality & connectivity is concerned which one is the best & why? Marantz SR7002, Onkyo TX-NR807 or Onkyo TX-SR876?

Awaiting Your Response.

Thanks!!!

The speakers you run and the room size will make the main difference, can you let us know more about your set up? Are you mainly watching movies - if so the Onkyo is the best bet or if you wish to listen to music the Marantz. The 876 and the 7002 are both at the end of their life so you may have trouble tracking down a brand new one rather than B-stock.

The 807 is due very soon and on paper it looks to have everything.

Personally a Big Fan of Marantz AV from a musical perspective, Had an SR5300 for 5 years just upgraded to an SR6003, the 6003 can be had for under £700, and would out perform the 7002, if the 7002 is a good price it will be an excellent sounding option, of course you need to audition to see if it suits your tastes.

pwiles1968,

Did you demo any other receivers before upgrading to the Marantz?

Is it as good as everyone says when it comes to 2 channel?

Is the fact that the audessey and decoding does not work together a problem? Or do decode at the blu ray player?

Thanks.......

I will admit I was unable to demo the unit, but have previously had other marantz so was happy to take the risk, To my ears the 2ch audio is excellent, I will point out however that I do have 2 Marantz MA6100 monoblock, amps (Bi-Amplified with receiver) helping to drive my speakers.

A few years back I Did a weekend home demo on my system with the 5003 and Monoblocks against a Rocsan Candy Amp, i was more than happy with my system, I also recently did a demo against a Yamaha Preamp driving my Mono's v My 6003 doing the same, again happy to stick with an AV amp as my main source. Another Hi Fi Magazine in April Reviewed it against a Yamaha RXV1900, NAD T755 and Onkyo TX-SR875, For an audio amp (Music) perspective It came out on top by an easily perceivable margin and said it compared well against integrated amps.

I do not have the kit space to have seprtate Stereo and AV setup, but I think I have an excellent sounding AV syatem for music replay.

With respect to Audessey I don't use it with music, Pure Direct for me this switches off everything not related to the audio being played, and i don't have a Blue-ray player so cant tell for sure if it would be an issue, It will definatley decode DD/DTS from DVD and do Audessy but to be honest For Surround I did the audessey setup, then transferred those settings in to the personal EQ set, I felt is was Bass light and wanted to tweak the settings.

I've got the SR6001, (supposedly very close to the SR7001 in sound), which obviously the SR6003 and SR7002 should be a step up from.

I went with it after demoing against an Onkyo with films and music, and having had a Marantz DVD player and stereo amp previously, and it was a at a discount price.

I use the SR6001 with a Sonos into the stereo in, (currently, but I'm going to explore digital and using the amp's DACs), and with an XDE500 DVD player into the digital coax in. Both sound really great to me, and I think for musicality with AV receivers, unless you go Arcam, you'll stuggle to beat a Marantz.

But I'm also very interested in films, and I find the SR6001 has plenty of detail and power, and I haven't even gone HD yet. I always think any sound quality that is apparent for the amplifier with music can't help but enhance a film, and music itself is also a very important part of any film soundtrack.
