Which model would you want and why between these two used portable players.

Would you rather have an Astell & Kearn older AK 100 II or a Sony NW ZX300 if both are $350 on the used market? And how important is the MQA format that the Sony would have over the other? This is my first portable player and I just cant afford anything else right now, otherwise, I'd get the thousand dollar model A&K!! Thanks!

Personally I'd go with the Sony and would not worry about the MQA format unless you are looking at streaming rather than files saved to physical media

Sorry, but i wouldn't bother with either and just use the smart phone of choice with with audioquest dragonfly, and if you have that sort budget get the colbot, all models decode anything you can shake a stick at MQA included, and sound quality wise the cobalt is up there with the chord mojo.

The set up would be no more cumbersome than one of those players. But thats just me
