I am looking to replace my old Pioneer VSXAV2avi for a better connected (more hdmi's), 3D ready and HD sound enabled receiver. I currently have Mission MX1's and MXC1 at the front and Mission M30i's at the back (surrounds and rears) and I have £1000 to spend? for the most part I am looking at the Pioneer LX 53, Onkyo NR808, Denon 2311 and a Yamaha 2037 (I think that's right)?

What do you guys think? I am looking to upgrade the TV and Blu ray once the 2011 models are fully established : )

I've been v happy with the LX53, having had a Pioneer D-2011 before that. Part of decision was to keep same brand and similar controls, so family-friendly. But the others have had good reviews too. (as an aside - noticed you've got Virgin TiVo already - do you work for Virgin, as our Virgin man said no-one except Virgin employees have them yet?)

Yeah the LX53 is my favourite so far but two stores are advising me differently, 1 says Onkyo the other says Denon and a lot of various forum members say Yamaha works nice with mission speakers, it is very confusing.

The TiVo I had installed two tuesdays ago and I love it. I am not an employee but was called out of the blue and ask if I wanted on one and told it was free, with no added subs for at least a year. 3rd Tuner was activated today and I look forwad to testing it out ; )

Prior to the current speakers I had Mission M30i speakers. They are a good match for the LX83, so they should be fine on the LX53 as well. I'm considering adding them back as front heights.

I really cannot decide on an Amp, I demoed the Onkyo NR808 today and I loved it. It's £150 cheper than the Pio but then again the PIo is currently shipping with a free BDP LX54 3D blu ray player. Both have their benifits and negatives and I just cannot decide. Any more thoughts, especially about why one over another?

Of course if you are going down the Pioneer route you could save some cash by going for the VSX2020. It's essentially the 53 but with a different facsia and no bluetooth adaptor.

Yeah I thought about that but I quite like the sound of the Bluetooth adaptor as I would want to stream my music that way. Also fore the £150 you save you get a better player that would cost an extra £100 itself, so really you are only saving £50 and the Bluetooth adaptor and better fascia seem worthy of the extra outlay.
